Security forces have arrested a wanted terror suspect who was accused of instigating riots in the eastern township of Awamiya last year and eight others. An Interior Ministry spokesman identified the man as Abbas Ali Mohammed Al-Mazroue.
Police arrested Al-Mazroue Monday morning after receiving information that he was residing in a hideout in the township with eight others, who were also wanted for criminal cases such as drug smuggling and trafficking.
“Security forces raided the hideout and arrested them all,” the spokesman said, adding that police came under fire during the operation but there were no injuries in the gun battle.
The spokesman reaffirmed the ministry’s determination to track down all wanted militants and urged on-the-run terror suspects to surrender.
He warned those who give wanted militants shelter or any kind of assistance, saying they would be held responsible for their actions.
