Riyadh and Eastern Province police have arrested a man who kidnapped his wife from her parents’ home at gunpoint on the first day of Eid Al-Fitr.
Police said the father of the woman had pressed charges against his son-in-law, accusing the man and his friends of barging into his home, kidnapping his daughter, and beating him up and threatening him with weapons when he tried to stop them.
Lt. Col. Ziyad Al-Ruqaiti, spokesman for the Eastern Province police, said that a dispute already existed between the complainant and his son-in-law, and a case had been filed about it in court.
Armed with a court order, police arrested the suspect in in Riyadh, Ruqaiti said. The suspect will be transferred from the national capital to Dammam as the investigation continues.
