The Communications and Information Technology Commission is making preparations to implement the second phase of a project aimed at increasing telephone numbers by at least 500 million.
Under the project, CITC will add one (1) to its six geographic zone codes. During the first phase, it changed the code of Riyadh region to 011. “The CITC is expected to change the code for the remaining five regions beginning from Aug. 18,” Sabq reported on Monday.
The codes of the five regions are: 012, 013, 014, 016 and 017. The CITC said the change was required to increase the range of numbers available for public mobile communications services and for fixed services.
