Veteran Clem Salazar of e Super Bowl and the unstoppable Roll and Bowl captured the awards for Best Bowler and the Best Team of the Week respectively during last week’s session in the Al Rabie-IBG Friday Afternoon Bowling League at the Universal Bowling Center (UBC) here.
Al Rabie Saudi Food Industries Co. Ltd. is the sole sponsor of the event. Also supporting the league is Thales represented by the Nelson de Vera. Itqan Bowlers Group (IBG) through IBG Advocate Ian Choco organized the league.
Salazar led Super Bowl to a 21-16 upset of heavy favorite Thales on total team handicap output of 4,118 points.
Salazar shot the high series of 935 to clinch the coveted individual award on lines of 235, 203, 226 and 215. Besides Salazar the others who helped Super Bowl beat Thales were Freddie Solomon (848), Resty de Jesus (792), Roland Garcia (787) and Ronald Cruz (756).
Thales, managed by FBGR Deputy Director for External Affairs de Vera, submitted total team handicap output of 4,074.
Roll and Ball Through behind the magnificent display of Ramon Chua and Butch Espinosa with a splendid support provided by Ernie Tulang, Jove Marano and durable Fred Dioquino lambasted the undermanned My Girl team 24-3.
Roll and Bowl, the Week’s Best Team awardees had total team handicap output of 3,998. At the center stage in Roll and Bowl was Chua with 830 points. Espinosa tallied 827, Tulang had 798, Marano 795 and Dioquino 748.
In My Girl side, playing with a two blind players in the first two games, Edgar Buenaventura and Archie Oliva posted 754 and 743.
League leader Saco blasted ABB JeX 23 -3 with its top caliber player Stephen Ajera shooting a towering 927 on games of 279, 201, 231 and 210. Coming in next to Ajera were Joel Batolina (822), Fernie Ballano (812) and Jun Sebastian (752). Ferdie dela Rosa and Jun dela Rosa shared separate series of 374 and 355.
Atoi Ramos hit 905 series scratch to lead ABB JeX. Nelson Respicio was next to Ramos at 809 while Jun Balubayan had 742 and Joey Morales 533 points.
NBA recorded another brilliant win against the Angel Vipers 23-16 thanks mainly to Edwin Atienza who shot a four-game series scratch of 910 (227, 231, 247, 205). Backing up Atienza were southpaw Ronald Bautista (876), youthful Nina de Vera (838) and Nelson de Vera (743). Joe Garrido sealed 174 in one game.
Angel Vipers had Angel Caasi at the forefront on 853 followed by Shawn Rickett and James Boyd who registered an identical series of 832. Koko Torres tallied 820 points while Reiner Torres added 614 points.
In other matches Saudi-Oger blasted Magnificent-5, 23-14, Itqan Tenpin Wizards stopped Itqan Tornado 19-15 and Zezo defeated Dabarkads 18-10.
