Emirates Aviation College (EAC) marked a milestone over the weekend celebrating the largest graduating class in its 22-year history. The commencement ceremony was held with the support of Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, chairman and chief executive of Emirates Airline & Group and attended by Brigadier General Mohamed bin Salman Al-Khalifa, director of air operations, Royal Bahraini Force, family, friends and Emirates’ senior management.
The class of 471 graduates, including 61 UAE nationals and 77 staff from the Emirates Group, received degrees in various program disciplines offered by the Emirates Aviation College (EAC). Counting this year’s number of students, the college will have graduated more than 12,000 students since its inception in 1991.
“The burgeoning aviation industry in the UAE and broader MENA region has created a whole spectrum of high value-added jobs that demand continuing education and professional qualifications. The success of our programs reflects this demand, and also the caliber of our education,” said Ahmad Al-Ali, vice-chancellor, EAC.
“More than two decades ago, EAC celebrated its first graduation ceremony with a batch of 40 students. To be standing here today, seeing off hundreds of students and conferring degrees in multiple disciplines, is proof of how the college has been able to grow and meet the changing education needs of the aviation industry. Our aim remains, to be the center of aviation excellence in the MENA region, and to continue contributing to the UAE’s quest toward a knowledge-driven society,” he added.
The achievements of the graduates included degrees in aviation management, aeronautical engineering, logistics and supply chain management, aviation safety and security, avionics, business, airline and airport operations, as well as EAC’s four new master degree programs in aviation security, aviation safety, HR management and HR development, and the new higher diploma program in aviation management for UAE nationals.
