LG sees bright future for OLED TVs in Saudi market

Television, which has become a major source of entertainment, is growing in its appeal and thus triggering a huge demand across Saudi Arabia.
This was stated by Ammar Naghi, president of United Yousef Mohammad Naghi (UYMN), while speaking at the launch of world’s first largest and slimmest curved OLED TV by LG Electronics, a global leader and technology innovator in consumer electronics, here.
“We have huge expectation because LG is No. 1 and it will remain No. 1,” he added.
“The new curved model compliments our core OLED TV family with a unique design that capitalizes on the thinness of the screen and the aesthetic beauty of OLED TV,” Ammar Naghi said.
Khaled Al-Mugaren, vice chairman, Riyadh Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and Mohammed Al-Kathiry, secretary, were the guests of honor at the unveiling ceremony.
Describing the features of the new OLED TV, John Lee, president of LG Electronics, Saudi Arabia, said: “With more than five years of research dedicated to develop the optimum curvature, the entire screen surface is equidistant from the viewer’s eyes eliminating the problem of screen-edge visual distortion and loss of detail.”
Lee added: “Our curved OLED TV comprises the perfect blend of subtle beauty, unmatched picture quality and immersive sound. Challenging the status quo, this beautifully designed and engineered product is a clear example of our ability to think beyond the ordinary and provide consumers with a differentiated experience.”
LG is the first to launch the 55-inch OLED TV, Lee pointed out.
“We believe our OLED TVs offer the ultimate viewing experience in the LG range of TVs,” he added.
LG’s curved OLED TVs combine the company’s industry-leading Cinema 3D technology with smart TV capabilities, creating LG’s most immersive and comprehensive home entertainment experience to date, Lee said and thanked Al-Mugaren and Al-Kathiry for attending the mega launch event.
B.W. Park, managing director of UYMN, said Saudi Arabia is a big market for premium segment of TVs. “We see bright future in terms of sales of OLED TVs in the Saudi market.”
Jin K. Kim, senior product manager, consumer electronics products (TV and media), LG Electronics Inc. KSA., said: “LG is the technology leader in OLED. We developed it first and our OLED technology is superior. We are lighter, we are thinner and our picture quality is better because we are using white pixel technology. Our competitors are using only 3-pixel technology but we are using 4-pixel technology, so it makes a difference in our picture quality.”
Giving the technical details of the new TV, Yusuf Tandawala, product manager, CE division, UYMN, said: “The response speed of LG OLED TV is over 100 times faster than LED TV, allowing fast moving scenes with completely blur-free, crystal clear pictures. It is no longer restrained by the slow response rates and frame rates, and shows motion the way it is seen in real life.”
Tandawala said the OLED TV is no longer restrained by the angle at which it is viewed, unlike previous devices that experience contrast loss from the sides.
The new TV shows consistent contrast from anywhere.
