A total of 159 fourth-year high school students from various Filipino schools in Riyadh took the University of the Philippines College Admission Test (UPCAT) this Friday, according to sources in the Philippine Embassy.
The examinations, conducted by UP Professor Francisco Delos Reyes, were held in two sessions. The female and male aspirants to be “Iskolar ng Bayan” (Country’s Scholar) totaled 99 and 60, respectively.
The embassy said that students from Palm Crest International School, Future Generation Philippine International School and Al-Danah International School were allotted the morning session while examinees from Al-Taj International School, Elite International School, Fawaq International School, Riyadh International School and Second Philippine International School sat for the test in the afternoon. The UPCAT, conducted outside the Philippines, is an annual program of the University of the Philippines (UP) to reach out to the children of overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) who intend to pursue their university degrees at the state university.
