KFAFH Inter-Department basketball tilt starts today

OFBL officially launched the KFAFH Inter-Department Basketball Championship, in cooperation with UFWORK-KFAFH, the main organizer of this annual event where a total of 14 teams plunge into action from this weekend.
A contract signing was held on Monday at Yummy Yummy Restaurant, Al Salamah District. Chairman Boy Teves along with Commissioner Rocky Gil represented Overseas Filipino Basketball League, while their counterparts, President Shailani Marohombsar and Sports Chairman Romeo Omamalin of United Filipino Workers-King Fahd Armed Forces Hospital, were all present to ratify the agreement.
The tieup was the first between OFBL and UFWORK-KFAFH in which the latter’s tournament games are to be played at OFBL homecourt , Timeout Sports Academy stadium, on Television St., Ghulail District on the outskirts of Jeddah. With games scheduled Fridays and Saturdays from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. the tournament will run for three months.
Divided into two brackets the 14 teams play a single robin eliminations in each bracket with the top 4 finishers of both brackets to advance in a crossover quarterfinals, where the 4 winners play another crossover semifinals. The 2 semifinal winners clash for the title in a best-of-three shampionship series while the losers battle for 3rd place in a knockout game.
Marohombsar said this annual event is a tradition to promote a healthy and wholesome pastime for all the participants in the spirit of unity, friendship and camaraderie among them.
For his part, Teves is pleased to be a part of this event that hopefully will reach a successful conclusion.
Meanwhile, in the OFBL 4th Conference Friday Morning Games Maxim Jamjoom, Nesma, Fireberkz and Redtag all won their games.
Maxim Jamjoom defeated Jeddah Falcons 97-84 to take the No. 1 spot in Bracket B and Abulencia was adjudged Jollibee Best Player of the game with a game-high 48 points. Nesma conquered Yummy Yummy 84-78, with Estrella and Llanos leading the team with 21 points each. Fireberkz beat Makati 62-55, to share the No. 1 spot with OBS in Bracket A. George top-scored for the winning team with 20 points. Redtag trounced Jollibee 84-71, with Sandoval in charge with 22 points.
In the OFBL 4th Conference Evening Division, NRF routed Centerpoint 86-63 with Barry and Borata each scoring 24 points, Ivan snatched an 83-81 victory against Compas, led by Jumatau with 25 points and Silencer crushed Patriots 76-64, headed by Hamdy with 21 points.
Elsewhere, Hidada thrashed Grain Silos 98-83, with Ventanilla and Carbonell each scoring 28 points and KAMC overcame UDH 88-83 in a game starring Manalili who had a stellar performance with 44 points.
