The Al-Murjan Medical Company Ltd. and New York Presbyterian Global Services have signed an agreement for the New York Presbyterian Hospital to establish a presence in Saudi Arabia.
“As a comprehensive academic medical center, New York Presbyterian is committed to global health care development and serving the health care needs of a global population,” said Dr. Steven J. Corwin, New York Presbyterian's CEO.
He added that establishing a presence in the Kingdom “allows us to expand on our commitment to Saudi citizens and will create long-term initiatives to enhance health care in the Kingdom.”
“Al-Murjan Medical Company's cooperation with New York Presbyterian is a first step for the company in a shared commitment to advance health care in the Kingdom,” said Abdul Rahman bin Khalid bin Mahfouz, head of Al-Murjan Group.
He added that he has had the privilege of experiencing what New York Presbyterian has to offer.
The agreement, which was announced in the Saudi capital recently, will facilitate Saudi Arabia's access to the expertise of New York Presbyterian Hospital and its two primary medical affiliates - Columbia University College of Physicians & Surgeons and Weill Cornell Medical College.
New York Presbyterian Hospital is one of the largest and most comprehensive hospitals in the United States, with some 2,600 beds. The hospital had nearly two million inpatient and outpatient visits in 2012, including 12,758 deliveries and 275,592 visits to its emergency departments.
Its 6,144 affiliated physicians and 20,154 staff provide state-of-the-art inpatient, ambulatory and preventive care in all areas of medicine at six major centers.
