Jeddah Gov. Prince Mishaal bin Majed opened Mobily’s latest data center in Jeddah as part of the company's expansion plans to establish such centers across the Kingdom .
Upon his arrival to the data center at Al-Faiha district, the prince was received by Khalid Al-Kaf, MD and CEO of Mobily. The prince was conducted by Al-Kaf and other executives on a tour of the seven-floor data center, with a total area of 5,300 m2. The prince was briefed about the center and its services in support of the business sector in the Kingdom.
Al-Kaf explained to the governor that the center holds a Tier III Certification of Constructed Facility from the Uptime Institute, one of the highest institution specialized in the evaluation of data centers in the world.
Al-Kaf extended his gratitude and appreciation for the governor for his support to all development projects serving the business sector in Jeddah province.
Al-Kaf stated during the press briefing that all Mobily data centers enjoy unprecedented standards of safety, reliability and business continuity as required by the governmental, industrial and financial infrastructures.
Mobily launched last July the first data center in Riyadh that obtained Tier IV Certification of Constructed Facility in Asia and Africa, and Al-Kaf announced on the same occasion that the company was planning to construct several data centers across the Kingdom to accommodate the increasing demand from the business sector.
As there is a desire to host all database of the governmental and private sectors within the Kingdom, Mobily is implementing its plan actively, he added.
Mobily is running currently 38 data centers spread all over the Kingdom, and working on other data centers through an ambitious plan to construct 56 data centers on an area covering 65,000 square meters with a total output of 152,104 KW.
Jeddah data center successfully completed all the tests and necessary requirements for launching such an advanced center, under the direct supervision of experts from the American Institute. These tests were done to ensure the implementation, and application of technical and engineering standards and that all electrical, mechanical, and support systems for the alarm, emergency generators, air conditioning and ventilation systems, and fire-fighting systems were done as per the set measures and standards of the institute.
Mobily is considered to be the first telecom company in the Middle East, Asia and Africa that owns the largest number of data centers that were approved by Uptime. This ensures that Mobily complies with the latest international criteria that achieves top competency and matches the latest technologies in the telecommunication field.
