Saudi Arabia’s ongoing drive against illegal expatriates is slowly and gradually bearing fruit. However, the authorities must not solely rely on this campaign. They should keep an eye on unscrupulous elements — Saudis and expatriates — who are still trying to exploit the existing loopholes in the system. It is beyond comprehension as to why the government is not willing to do away with the sponsorship system. This system is the mother of all problems. This system should be abolished and a fully digitized system of issuance of visas and other documents be adopted on the lines of the United Arab Emirates. — Shahin Hussain, Jubail
