Passport Department to hire civilian employees

The Ministry of Interior will hire civilian employees at Passport Department offices to deal with customers and assist them with the completion of paperwork.
Ammer Al-Qahtani, executive director of the government support unit at Al-Elm Information Security Company, said that 5,000 employees were recruited in the operation rooms of government institutions to serve citizens.
“Most government sectors, mainly the security forces, have agreed to use the term ‘client’ instead of the commonly used ‘service user,’ to improve the level of their work,” he said.
Speaking on adopting of a smart electronic system, Al-Qahtani said it will reduce cases of corruption by up to 99 percent.
“The ‘Smart Passenger’ project is expected to be applied by 2015. Once it is applied, clients will no longer have to recruit mediators and don’t have to be physically present,” he said.
The idea of the new software involves introducing passenger data on the airliner’s website. “The officer will know the passenger’s identity in about 45 seconds,” he said.
Around 3,000 civilian employees will be recruited by 2017 within the framework of a project to integrate the work of both the private and public sectors, he said.
