JEDDAH: Amro Al Amri pushed great on the ultimate game to lead by three pins over Archie Santos for the men’s title while Aisah Silabay dominated the ladies throughout for the women’s crown in the FEDBG championship for January at the Bowling City here.
Al Amri finished fourth in the elimination, which was topped by Henry Kahayon with 773. Nabel Sadawi was second with 770 in group OA. In the playoffs, Al Amri got the better of Sadawi, Obie Ycasas, and Mohammad Sahel with his 195.
The finals was topped by Feliciano with 203, Al Amri trailing close with 198 and Santos at a striking distance with 185. The last game then showed the ultimate kegling when bowlers struggled more. Santos rampaged to front with 222 for a 407 finish expecting an error from Al Amri on the last frame. But the hard-rolling Saudi bowler bagged double and left Santos with 3 pins at 410 on a 212 upsurge for his first FEDBG championship. Feliciano ranked third with 378 while Afurong stayed fourth with 359 on his 221 pursuit.
In ladies division, Silabay remarkably controlled the quest with her initial game of 215 and never looked back with all 205 on the three remaining sets to totally dominate sudden death competition. Silabay showed her supremacy with total 4-game series with handicap of 830 to be the FEDBG lady champion of January 2014.
Ranking first runner-up was Eloisa Fernandez, who finished with 809. Ester Santoc, started at fifth spot, enabled to move up to be at third place with 731. Sally Sanosa surprised other competitors, when from as low as 7th place after three games, looking up at Minda Guevara, Alma Bacero ans Shirley Sagmit, excelled with 207 to topple fourth position with 696. Other participants are Lanie Zamora, Mariz Resano, May Lourdes and Fatima Jintarat.
