Jeddah Lanes joined Sky Freight Forwarders as the teams to win at least two awards, with a Bowler of the Week plum to boot courtesy of Paolo Allego during the 7th session in the Qatar Airways-AFTBL 28th Open Conference bowling tournament at Jeddah Lanes here.
The host bowlers submitted the best tally of 37 points at the end of another eventful week where Moe-AFM grabbed back the lead after losing it for a week to Sky Freight.
Moe-AFM challenged for honors but had to settle for second-best of 35 points with MC Hammer 1 point adrift on 34.
Steady Taurus, the second week honoree, crossed the 30 points barrier on 31. But Jem-FTBJ missed it with a mere 27 to show followed by Sky Freight 23, Lipton Chai Latte 21 and Idol.
The last three teams to check in were Jeddah 5K 18 points, Habagat 13 and Bank Al-Jazira.
Allego led Jeddah Lanes, which moved up three places to second in the team standings, and in the process earned back-to-back Bowler of the Week accolade with his impressive series of 658 on scratch games of 251, 214 and 181.
Gerry Mandanas backed up Allego on 615 while Frank Afurong carded 587 and Majid Aslani 560. With two games each were Jun Palacios 205-189 and Igna Salgado 193-234.
After a slow start Moe-AFM never finished lower than second the rest of the way with the duo of Nonie Yap and Cesar Monares in the thick of things with 639 and 609. Abdul Obie Ycasas and Ding Dela Rosa also did three games on 594 and 535. Sharing the remaining three games were Wilson triguero 202-213 and Rico Nery 178.
Like Moe MC Hammer had four players going the distance namely Zaldy Bacero on 648, Amro Al-Amri 599, Melvin Lising 596 and Richard Junio 567. Jhun Estefano contributed 225-177 and Rene Punzalan 163.
Taurus banked on a single set of five players, led by the duo of Jun De Dios 641 and Alex Flora 616. Edwin Ronquillo came though with 580 that went with the 536 by Raul delos Reyes and 538 by Nap Patayan.
The trio of Rey Beltran, Gerry Tano and Efren San Pedro spearheaded Jem on 625, 551 and 538 in that order.
Out of sorts on this night, Sky Freight failed to buy a single 600 series with Cris Villavelez 8 points short on 592.
In contrast Lipton, though 2 behind Sky Freight in the points race, produced two 600-series scores thanks to Jimmy Urbano 635 and Simon Ang 602.
