MC Hammer nails first Team of Week award in Qatar Airways bowling tilt

MC Hammer nailed its first Team of the Week award with a robust display during the 12th session in the Qatar Airways-AFTBL 48th Open Conference bowling tournament at Jeddah Lanes here.
Hammer was far and away the best on the night, compiling 40.5 points, well in front of Sky Freight-TFC which returned 36 points.
League leader AFM-Moe addressed a threat from Jeddah Lanes by pouring in 34 points to the hosts’ 25, while Bank AlJazira and Taurus followed on 32.5 and 27.
Lipton Chai Latte had 18 points in seventh place for the session. At 14.5 points was Habagat, while Idol, Jeddah 5K and FTBJ-Jem were the tailenders on 13.5, 12 and 11 in that order.
To Goying Salazar of Sky Freight went the Lipton Chai Latte Bowler of the Week award after he shot the high series of 674 on lines of 223, 247 and 204.
On its way to the team honors MC Hammer showed great resolve and not even a dip in the second game, where it tied with AlJazira for fourth and fifth places, could alter its course as it won the first and third games and overall output.
The trio of Amro Al-Amri, Rene Punzalan and Richard Junio hit 648, 608 and 585 to be at the vanguard of the Hammer attack. Contributing two games each were Zaldy Bacero 212-226, Jhun Estefano 189-171 and Melvin Lising 213-193.
Oca Bernabe and Cris Villavelez fired 599 and 594 in support of Salazar at Sky Freight with James Galvan on 516. Pancho Cuevas came through with 203-206 and Bonnie Garcia added 197.
That AFM-Moe held tight at first place was mainly because of big games from Ding Dela Rosa 636, Cesar Monares 620 and Danny Bautista 606. Obie Ycasas had 566, while Nonie Yap and Abdul Mugawan tallied 203-181 and 180.
AlJazira got a pair of 600 efforts from Ariel Urquia 626 and Mikee Protacio 625 while Taurus was led by Jameel Gabrera 607 and Raul de los Reyes 581.
Simon Ang and Salic Mudac bannered Lipton Chai at 612 and 587.
Meantime, the league takes a breather this week to give way to the FTBJ Monthly Tournament for March. Roll-off is 7 p.m. at Jeddah Lanes.
