SEOUL: Armed police were called in to rescue renowned US singer Lady Gaga after she was stuck due to hundreds of fans waiting outside the South Korean airport, good4utah.com reported.
The “Poker Face” singer flew into Gimpo International Airport, a small regional base near Seoul, ahead of her gig in the city on Saturday, and she was caught in a crush as hundreds of devotees descended on the terminal building.
“She came in on a private jet from Japan... I reckon there was 2,000-plus people there and around 25 armed police officers... The crowd was crazy, but the police were able to stop Gaga from getting caught in the crush. The situation was managed very professionally,” an onlooker said.
The singer later played down the scary situation in a post on her Twitter.com page, writing, “Thank you to the hundreds of beautiful fans that greeted me at the airport. Your love means so much to me.”
