Shiite militias and their heinous acts

This refers to the well-balanced article, “Sectarian cleansing rears its ugly face again in Iraq” (Jan. 9), by Baria Alamuddin. Shiite militia Al-Hashd Al-Shaabi’s heinous plans and activities are a matter of great concern. Iran has been stoking regional sectarianism and genocidal operations via its dangerous militias such as Al-Hashd Al-Shaabi, Hezbollah and many others against Sunnis.
Surprisingly, rather than declaring them as dangerous, world powers are working with them. This indicates that the US, Russia, Britain and Germany are not concerned about genocide against Sunnis and Shiite militias’ merciless killings. Al-Qaeda, Al-Nusra Front and Daesh are declared terrorist groups, yet Shiite militias that have been killing Sunnis, abducting them and looting their properties are not.
As the writer rightly said: “Often summary executions, torture and kidnappings happen in the presence of security personnel or near police headquarters. Al-Hashd Al-Shaabi knows that it can act with impunity. No militia member has ever been held accountable for such crimes. These war crimes are not the result of out-of-control individuals. This is systematic policy.”
It is very surprising that superpowers do not have sympathy with the downtrodden and oppressed, and are allowing fascist Shiite groups to kill Sunnis. How long will the killing of humanity go on unnoticed? When will the world wake from its slumber to support just causes?
Turkey’s concern was right: After conquering Mosul, Shiite militias may start summary executions and destroying Sunni properties.
It is beyond imagination why Iran and its fascist factions have so much hatred toward Sunnis when both sects believe in Allah and the Qur’an. Is that not enough to live in harmony? Shiite militias will not benefit from shedding the blood of Sunnis. I urge all factions to let sanity prevail and stop mindless bloodshed, for the sake of humanity, peace and tranquility.
