DHL Express Saudi Arabia has announced the successful completion of its two-day blood drive in the Eastern Province.
Blood donations were made at the company’s Eastern Province Country Office. The region’s DHL Express employees were encouraged to participate in an effort to assist a leading hospital in the Kingdom in shoring up its blood supply.
“We have been having this initiative for years, so when we received a call to inform us that they were in short supply of blood, we organized the donation drive on the spot,” said Shams Alabdulawahed, corporate social responsibility manager, DHL Express Saudi Arabia. “And we are extremely proud of the results, which were realized through the participation of such a large number of our employees.”
During the two days of the drive, which was organized by the local branch of the global courier’s HR department, 32 bags of blood were collected from 32 employees. The donations were later transported to the hospital.
The blood drive is in line with the company’s global strategy called “GoHelp.” It is a CSR strategy that encourages DHL employees to interact with the community through various campaigns designed to better the social conditions in the worldwide community.
