JEDDAH: Saudi security forces have killed Khalid Al-Shahri who was accused of attacking a checkpoint in March, the Interior Ministry has announced.

Interior Ministry spokesman, Major General Mansour Al-Turki, said four security men were killed during the March attack. Two of the attackers were arrested - the third was killed after a gun fight as he tried to escape.

Further investigations led security forces to Al-Shahri who was at his family home in the village of Al-Ohda in the Namas province on Saturday night.

He was told to surrender but refused and was shot in the gun battle that followed – he later died in hospital.
