ISLAMABAD: Pakistan's Prime Minister Imran Khan will visit Iran in the next few days, Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi said during an interaction with the media in his home city of Multan on Sunday.
While Qureshi didn’t share any other details of the visit, media reports on Monday said that Khan was expected to be in Iran on April 21.
This will be PM Khan’s first visit to Iran since assuming office in August last year.
In recent months, bilateral ties between both the countries suffered a blow after a deadly attack on the Revolutionary Guard killed 27 personnel in the Sistan-Baluchistan province in February this year.
Iranian officials accuse Pakistan of harbouring militant group Jaish Al-Adl which they allege is responsible for the attack. Pakistan has categorically denied all the allegations.
Islamabad is also deliberating over building a fence along the 959 km Iran-Pakistan border to curb illegal border crossings.
Last week, on the instructions of PM Khan, Pakistan had sent two C-130 planes with relief goods to Iran after heavy floods had killed at least 70 people and inundated hundreds of others.
