JEDDAH: Chinese Ambassador Chen Weiqing became the latest to visit Riyadh Oasis following its reopening. Earlier, the French and British ambassadors visited the tourist attraction. Weiqing donned a shemagh and igaal (Saudi headwear worn by men) and tweeted a photo of himself captioned in Arabic: “Evening in Riyadh Oasis.”

The president of the General Entertainment Authority (GEA), Turki Al-Sheikh, welcomed him, saying: “You are most welcome, and you have honored us.”

Al-Sheikh also tweeted to the US consul general, saying: “We are pleased with the visit of the American consul in Dhahran, Mrs. Nicole Manz Bazawi.”

Sponsored by the GEA, Riyadh Oasis is a winter wonderland set up in the heart of the Saudi capital early this year to provide the visitors with an all-around experience, where they can play, camp, and discover rich Saudi culture.

It also provides fine dining through a selection of award-winning international restaurants and international cultural music performed live.
