ISLAMABAD: Abu Dhabi has decided to remove the need to quarantine for all vaccinated travelers arriving from international destinations starting Sunday, the government’s media office confirmed in a tweet on Thursday.
The development follows the UAE’s approval to issue tourist visas for vaccinated travelers from abroad.
“As per the new procedure, effective from Sunday, 5 September 2021, all vaccinated tourists arriving into Abu Dhabi emirate do not need to quarantine,” the Abu Dhabi Emergency, Crisis and Disasters Committee said in a travel update.
“Before traveling, vaccinated tourists must verify their vaccination certificate via the Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship website or app. Before boarding, they must show a negative PCR test result received within 48 hours of departure.”
On August 29, the United Arab Emirates said it will resume issuing tourist visas to vaccinated travelers from Aug. 30, the state news agency (WAM) reported.
The decision also covered people coming in from countries from which the UAE had previously barred entry, WAM reported. In those cases, visitors would have to take a COVID-19 test on arrival, it added.
