RIYADH: The Transport General Authority, in cooperation with the Ministry of Interior, General Public Security, and the National Road Safety Center, carried out a total of 168,034 inspections in January, including 163,842 inspections of transport vehicles.

It made 3,967 field visits to transportation facilities in the Kingdom, during which the authority recorded 24,136 violations, 38 of which were of precautionary measures.

It also carried out 225 inspections of foreign vehicles, while automated monitoring operations recorded 8,928 violations in the Riyadh region.

Violations varied between operating a transport vehicle without a proper permit, using a vehicle for longer than the approved period, not installing front, rear, or side guards for trucks, as well as not complying with placing the required plates or signs inside the vehicle.

Taxis had the highest number of violations in January, followed by goods transport and specialized transport.

Makkah region recorded 5,027 violations; the Eastern Province had 3,389, Riyadh 2,290, and Madinah 1,124.
