RIYADH, 3 June  — The director general of foreign education at the Ministry of Education here has asked all the 16 candidates who had submitted nominations for election to the management committee of the Bangladesh International School, Riyadh, (BISR) to file their papers again.

A circular issued by election commissioners Asaduzzaman Chowdhury and Dr. Ahmad Zakir Mamun to this effect follows allegations that certain current school management committee members forcefully entered the election commission room and seized some important documents.

Accordingly, all candidates contesting the elections set for next Friday had been asked to resubmit the forms with the relevant documents to the election commissioners by yesterday. Scrutiny of the forms will take place today.

Last date for withdrawal of nomination forms is Tuesday and the final list of candidates will be put up on Wednesday, two days before the elections.

Dr. Muhammad Abdul Rahman, chairman of the suspended management committee, challenged the election officials’ claim about interception of documents.

In a memorandum to Dr. Hamad Al-Helwah, director general of international schools, five members of the management committee have called for the dissolution of the election commission and setting up of an independent inquiry into its alleged involvement in illegal activities.
