Sharjah-bound Indian airline flight lands in Karachi after technical problem
  • Pakistan’s aviation authority says the Hyderabad-Sharjah flight reported a technical fault in engine number two
  • Indian passengers are at the airport lounge as another plane from Ahmedabad has been arranged to take them to Sharjah

ISLAMABAD: India’s biggest airline, IndiGo, on Sunday diverted a flight to Pakistan’s southern port city of Karachi due to some technical issues, Pakistan’s Civil Aviation Authority (PCAA) said in a statement.
The A320 aircraft, which flew from the Indian city of Hyderabad and was headed toward Sharjah, was diverted to Karachi after its engine number two developed a technical fault.
“The plane landed safely at the Jinnah International Airport at 07:30 after permission from the Air Traffic Control (ATC),” the PCAA added.
All 186 passengers of the plane were brought to the airport’s passenger lounge after the pilot was given permission to land.
According to Pakistan’s aviation authority, another Indian plane would soon depart from India’s Ahmedabad city to take the stranded passengers from Karachi to Sharjah.
This is the second Indian aircraft in less than two weeks that has made an emergency landing in Karachi.
A Dubai-bound B737 aircraft from New Delhi was also diverted to Karachi after a fuel leak forced the pilot to request Pakistan’s aviation authorities to allow it to land.
