RCA to take on EPCA in key inter-city matches

RIYADH, 25 January — Riyadh Cricket Association (RCA) will host Eastern Province Cricket Association (EPCA) for the inter-city matches on Jan. 31st and Feb. 1, Qadeer Mirza RCA President and Asif Saleem senior vice president in a press release stated this.

For the successful conduct of EPCA tour matches RCA constituted four committees — namely Reception Committee, Ground Committee, Function Committee and Dinner/Reception Committee to oversee the arrangements. Reception Committee includes Ahsan Raza, Zulfiquar Ali, Raza-ur-Rehman, Khalid Rana, Saeed Malik and Shahed Malik while Hanif Baber leads Ground Committee. Function Committee consists of Muhammad Aslam and Shafi Qureshi and Dinner/Reception Committee comprises of Nasir Khan, Syed Bader Mohiuddin, Muhammad Razi Mohiuddin, Syed Taqiuddin and Shafi Qureshi.

Meanwhile, RCA constituted three-member selection committee, one for seniors and one for U-17/Youth to select RCA teams for the forthcoming Inter-City matches against EPCA. Seniors Selection Committee comprises of Aslam Sheikh, Fazal-Ur-Rehman and Zulfiquar Ali while for U-17/Youth the selection committee members are Syed Taqiuddin, Raza-Ur-Rehman and Khalid Rana. Selection trials will be held in two stages — the first on Jan. 17 and the second trials on Jan. 24.

In order to promote, encourage and bolster the noble game of cricket RCA continues to patronize and organize U-17/Youth matches along with Inter-City matches. RCA introduced the concept of U-17 and Youth Inter-City matches last year by playing EPCA. EPCA in all will play five matches during their two-day visit.

On Thursday RCA President XI will play EPCA President XI while in another match RCA U-17 takes on EPCA U-17. On Friday RCA XI takes on ECPA XI while in another match RCA Youth will play EPCA Youth. First time there will be a 20 over match between RCA Ex-com and EPCA Ex-com on Thur. 31st.

For the development, growth and betterment of cricket in Saudi Arabia and in compliance with the policy of International Cricket, Riyadh Cricket Association (RCA) has requested Jeddah Cricket League (JCL) to send neutral empires for the forthcoming Inter-City matches against EPCA. RCA will host a dinner/reception in honor of visiting EPCA team and officials on Thursday. All Saudi Arabian Cricket league officials were invited for the dinner/reception.
