JEDDAH, 20 February — A poet and active member of the Indian community, Aleem Siddiqui, died last night of a heart attack. Siddiqui, who was present at a reception hosted by Ambassador Talmiz Ahmad for the Indian Haj good will delegation at Jeddah Trident on Monday night, breathed his last at King Fahd Hospital, according to his family sources. He complained of chest pain in the afternoon and was rushed to the hospital. Members of the Indian community received the news with shock and grief. They recalled his services to the community in general and to cultural events like mushairas (poetry sessions) in particular. For a long time, he was a member of the India Forum managing committee. He was 63 and hailed from Lucknow, cultural capital of Uttar Pradesh He is survived by his wife and three sons.
