RIYADH, 21 February — Saco won the Winter Cup 2002, beating Star in their best-of-three finals at Azizia grounds. In the first match while batting first, Star were all out for 129. Abubakar 39, Mohammad Younus 45 and M. Imran 19 were the main scorers. Afzal Ahmed claimed 5 for 36 while Adnan 3 for 20 and Shahid captured 2 for 23. Chasing the target, Saco made 130 for the loss of 8 wickets. Hafeezullah 52, Afzal Ahmed 26 and M. Shahid 14 were the main contributors for Saco. M. Imran claimed 3 wickets for 68 runs. In the second match, Saco scored 138 all out with Adnan 40, Asif Ali M. Shafi 20, Shahid 25 and Ilyas 23 contributing to the total. M. Imran 5-29, Mohammad Younus 3-31 and Abdullah 2-16 were the main wicket-takers. In reply, Star were bowled out for 82. Ilyas captured 5 wickets for 29 runs, Adnan 2 for 27 and Shahid 3 for 13. Ilyas was “man-of-the-match”.
