2,200 accidents in two weeks

JEDDAH, 2 March — The Traffic Department in Jeddah recorded some 2,200 road accidents during the past two weeks, Al-Madinah daily reported yesterday. The paper said 51,306 traffic violations, including 3,382 cases of running the red light and 2,763 cases of speeding, were registered during the same period. It also recorded 733 cases of overtaking from the wrong side and 635 cases of unauthorized transport of passengers. The department found that speeding was the main reason for the accidents.
