Seiko-Butler, UPC score 3rd in a row: JBLIC cagefest

JEDDAH, 5 April — Seiko-Butler beat Completa 65-48 in Seiko-JBLIC year 2002 basketball tournament held at COCG basketball court in Industrial City State phase 1. Seiko-Butler dominated the court throughout the game. Undermanned Completa tried to contain the pressure defense of Seiko-Butler but lost their tempo in the fourth quarter. Arce and Rafanan scored 21 and 19 points respectably for Seiko-Butler while Aguilar was top scorer with 15 points for Completa.

In the next game, KIA Motors overwhelmed Al Aoun Factory 74-43. KIA Motors showed industrial city their preparedness for the championship series, they displayed outside shooting skills and some of their beautiful offensive plays. Al Aoun Factory tried to reduce the pressure but theyr were unable to stop the rampaging Kia Motors quintet. Amazona was top scorer with 12 points for KIA Motors while Inotantes scored 13 points for Al Aoun Factory.

In another game, Basahm Goody defeated Jedac 79-77. It was a seasaw battle between the two ballclubs. In the fourth quarter, Jedac was leading by 6 points till the last four minutes of the game. But due to costly errors they gave Basahm Goody their second straight victory. Rongavilla and Jamahali scored 34 and 26 points for Basahm Goody while Diaz was top scorer with 28 points for Jedac.

In Thursday’s game, Saudi Diyar beat Lux Binzagr 59-50. The never say die Saudi Diyar attacked the defense of Lux Binzagr in the fourth quarter with their rag and tag offense. Lux Binzagr tried to stay in the contention but missed their important baskets. Boy Manila topscored with 19 points for Saudi Diyar while Erwin Calso scored 19 points for Lux Binzagr.

In the next game, Nepro Plastic defeated Arifco 55-43. Both teams played well until Arifco suffered consecutive turnovers in the dying moment of the fourth quarter. Nepro Plastic re-group and pounded the defense of the much taller Arifco. De Jesus was top scorer with 21 points for Nepro Plastic while Agustin scored 21 points for Arifco.

In another game, UPC won over CPMC 82-79 in overtime. Both teams displayed fine form and scores keep changing sides in the whole game. CPMC lost their main man Pansacala in the extra period due to foul trouble. UPC went to Diaz for the final assault and succeeded for their third straight victory. Diaz top score with 28 points for UPC while Pansacala scored 29 points for CPMC.
