JEDDAH, 20 October — Saudi Travelers Checks Company is planning to market its Haj service checks and other products among Haj and Umrah pilgrims in the Kingdom, according to Abdul Aziz Al-Ajroush, general manager of the company.

Addressing a press conference, he said the company’s sales of travelers’ checks and Haj service checks in Saudi riyals were expected to reach SR600 million this year.

The company has sought the assistance of Mansak Company for tourism and Haj and Umrah services to market the checks extensively, beginning from this Umrah and Haj season.

The company’s checks will be marketed in Arab and Islamic countries as well as in Europe and America through travel agents and pilgrim service companies.

Ajroush said the company’s Haj service checks were a big success as they attracted a large number of pilgrims over the past years.

Many pilgrims purchased the Saudi travelers checks to prevent stealing of their money. Last year the checks were marketed in 35 countries.

The company plans to market the checks among pilgrims within the Kingdom.

Bandar Al-Fahaid, general manager of Mansak and chairman of the national tourism committee at the Council of Saudi Chambers, said pilgrims could now avail of all services they required within the Kingdom in exchange for Saudi travelers’ checks.

He said the travelers’ checks issued by the company will save pilgrims from currency rate fluctuations. The checks are available in SR50, SR100, SR500 and SR1,000 denominations.
