DUBAI: As final preparations for Jordan’s royal wedding begin in earnest, Jordanian security forces this week performed a rehearsal run for the royal convoy ahead of the June 1 marriage between Crown Prince Hussein bin Abullah II and Saudi Arabia’s Rajwa Al-Saif.

"Security personnel lined up on main streets in a practice procedure for the wedding,"  Al-Rai newspaper reported.

Footage shared online showed the convoy being led by a Mercedes S-class. It was followed by the main car, a Toyota Land Cruiser, surrounded by 14 open-top red army Land Rovers and seven red army motorcycles.

It was revealed earlier this month that the wedding’s religious ceremony will take place at Zahran Palace in Amman, while the reception, to be attended by international heads of state and the Jordanian royal family, will be held at Al-Husseiniya Palace.

The convoy will transport the groom and the bride between the two palaces and people will be able to watch the convoy travel through the city.
