JEDDAH, 18 April 2003 — Pakistan’s Ambassador to Saudi Arabia Abdul Aziz Mirza said a number of schemes for overseas Pakistanis would be announced soon.
He said the schemes were aimed at encouraging overseas Pakistanis to invest in development projects in Pakistan.
He assured the Pakistani community that the government was aware of their problems and measures were being taken to solve them.
Speaking at a community meeting yesterday at the Consulate General of Pakistan here, the ambassador underlined the importance of unity, harmony and dedication among the Pakistanis living in the Kingdom. He said Pakistanis living in the Kingdom should work for the development of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and Pakistan.
He said the two countries enjoyed excellent relations. “Our economic and trade relations with Saudi Arabia are growing,” he added.
The ambassador on Wednesday met with teachers and parents of Pakistan International School, Jeddah.
He said there would be improvement in the quality of education and parent-teacher relationship as a result of steps being taken by the embassy, the board of directors of the school and the Saudi Ministry of Education.
The ambassador said steps would be taken to ensure the welfare of teachers and protect their jobs, providing the necessary environment for teachers to carry out their duties fearlessly and with commitment.
Responding to questions relating to the board of directors and the management of the school, Ambassador Mirza said that the existing rules were being discussed with the Saudi Education Ministry for modifications which would ensure improvements in the day-to-day functioning of the school.
