JEDDAH, 5 October 2003 — The “all-new” long wheelbase Audi A8 made its debut in Jeddah yesterday.
“We introduce this 2004 limo-luxury car to the Saudi market in the context of our successful investments in the Kingdom and the rest of the GCC,” Mohammad Wajih Sharbatly, vice president of Saudi Arabian Marketing & Agencies Company Ltd. (SAMACO Group), told reporters during the unveiling ceremony.”
“It has a new design where sporty look and elegance meet and is packed with innovative technology. Drive the latest Audi and you’ll find it’s equipped with the highest level of power, control and performance coupled with refined luxury and comfort,” he said.
Describing the new car as a segment leader and sheer engineering beauty, he said it is crafted in aluminum, which contributes to reducing overall weight and which in turn enhances performance and fuel efficiency. Its sloping rooflines are reminiscent of a coupe and move the optical center of gravity toward the rear. Its other features include eye-catching headlights with tube optics that are presented effectively behind clear glass and harmonize with the radiator grille
The car comes with a highly responsive 4.2-liter aluminum-centric V8 engine and a technologically advanced six-speed Triptronic transmission system that takes the driver smoothly through each speed level.
“What’s more its new adaptive air suspension gives the car complete ability to sense road conditions and hold gears longer,” he said, adding that the new Audi was chosen to be the exclusive transporter for more than 250 of the participants at the recent annual IMF/World Bank meeting in Dubai.
“An elegant appearance is nothing unusual in the luxury class. The first impression becomes irresistible when a limousine has the attributes of a sports car at the same time,” he said.
“If the levels of pre-launch anticipation are anything to go by, the response to this amazing vehicle will be remarkable. We expect a lot of visitors and potential buyers,” he added.
