Egg and poultry producer, Radwa Food Production Company, has completed the rollout of an innovative communications and enterprise resource-planning infrastructure based on PeopleSoft EnterpriseOne, formerly J.D. Edwards OneWorld XE. Using inventory and manufacturing software from PeopleSoft, Radwa’s new infrastructure enables the company to track sales performance, assess current stock levels and respond in real time to immediate market demand.

By investing in this new solution, Radwa is tackling some of the critical business challenges of the food and animal feed industries — managing returns and changes to orders. Industry studies show that managing returns represents as much as 10-15 percent of the average food production company’s operating costs — a cost that Radwa will be able to radically reduce. Additionally, Radwa sales representatives traveling in the Kingdom can now access the system through hand-held cell devices, enabling them to make requests, check inventory and reroute orders according to the needs of customers while on the road.

“Radwa deals with the freshest produce on the market — eggs, chickens and feed — and we need a solution that enables us to manage our stock levels in real time,” said Ahmed Basoudan, sales manager, Radwa Food. “This new solution allows us to calculate the exact numbers and availability of our inventory, track where our stocks are and process orders accordingly. If a customer wants to change their order, we can feed this into the system and respond immediately.”

The solution will also benefit some of Radwa’s main customers in the Kingdom, including several of the Kingdom’s major supermarkets. They will be able to access personalized inventories online, so they can see current orders and update or confirm the details.

“Radwa is a great example of what a business can achieve through the application of the right technology,” commented Tim Caulkett, regional director, Middle East, PeopleSoft. “Many companies recognize that streamlining inventory and creating real-time stock management can have a hugely positive impact on their bottom line — industry leaders like Radwa are showing exactly how to achieve that.”

The new solution was implemented by Jeddah-based BT Applied Technologies, who took the system live within four months of the first discussion with Radwa about the need for a new system. “We’re immensely proud of the speed and success of this implementation,” said Amr Mohammed Taher, managing director, BT Applied Technologies. “Radwa is one of the Kingdom’s most widely-recognized brands and we’re proud to provide a solution that supports its continued growth and development.”

As part of its company’s support for the PeopleSoft solution, BT Applied Technologies will furnish ongoing training for Radwa employees, functional and technical support for the new internal infrastructure and will assist with network operations.
