According to the Ministry of Economy and Planning, their website, planning.gov.sa, has been designed to provide an interactive medium which allows for regular updating of data in order to help people keep abreast of developments as they take place. The website contains a wealth of statistics, information and documents associated with the various planning, economic and statistical tasks undertaken by the ministry. The statistics relate to areas such as economics, population and various social indicators.
The ministry is responsible for preparing the Kingdom’s five-year development plans and for estimating the budget required for their implementation. Another area of responsibility is the Population and Housing Census. At the website is information on the upcoming census, which the Central Department of Statistics (CDS) in the Ministry of Economy and Planning has been tasked to begin by the start of the school year 1425 A.H. In addition to collecting details about residential areas, the census will enable the creation of a database covering all the Kingdom’s regions. This will allow a review of the government’s administrative arrangements across the Kingdom. Information from the census will also lead to a comprehensive numerating process for city blocks, which will then be divided into areas or quarters and sectors.
