JEDDAH, 20 September 2004 — Indian expatriates from Kerala have formed a new organization to promote communal amity and fraternity, provide emergency assistance to accident victims, extend legal advice for people involved in labor disputes and encourage charitable activities.
The organization called Nanma or goodness was established two months ago by a group of Keralites to work for the welfare of their fellow Keralites regardless of their religious, political and cultural affiliations, said K.T. Abdul Kareem, its advisory board member.
The organization has already won applauds for its exemplary service. It has already solved 20 legal disputes amicably, visited labor camps and advised people earning low salaries how to save money.
Nanma recently held a get-together in Abhur for its members and supporters with the participation of several families. Abdul Kareem gave the keynote address emphasizing the importance of the organization, whose slogan is “We Are Humans and We Are One.” He called upon all Keralites to cooperate with the organization.
Nanma’s President Jayakumar Kaimal presided over the function while Sharief, secretary, welcomed the guests, Riyas Methar gave a vote of thanks and C.K. Morayoor briefed the gathering on camp activities, which included cultural and sports contests.
