KUWAIT CITY: Kuwait’s health ministry said Wednesday an 11-year-old girl was killed after being hit by falling shrapnel following waves of attacks across the Gulf.
“Resuscitation was performed in the ambulance while the girl was being transported to the hospital, and attempts continued for nearly half an hour upon arrival at Al-Amiri Hospital. However, she passed away due to her injuries,” said the ministry in a statement posted on X.

US and Israeli bombardment of Iran and Lebanon is ongoing, including reported strikes on a hotel near Beirut and on the building of the Assembly of Experts in Qom. As the conflict intensifies, the combined death toll in both countries has surpassed 800, according to initial reports.

In Iran, 787 people have been reported killed, including 165 schoolgirls and staff who died in a missile strike on a primary school in Minab in the country’s south on the first day of fighting, according to the Iranian Red Crescent Society, a non-profit humanitarian organization.

Tehran has continued retaliatory attacks for a fourth consecutive night, targeting Israel and US interests in the Middle East. Strikes were reported near the US consulate in Dubai and at a port in Fujairah in the United Arab Emirates.

The conflict has also unsettled financial markets across the Gulf. Stock markets in the United Arab Emirates fell sharply on the Dubai and Abu Dhabi exchanges after a two-day trading suspension. In Saudi Arabia, the Defense Ministry said two cruise missiles were intercepted south of the capital, Riyadh, home to the Prince Sultan Air Base, and that several drones were destroyed after entering Saudi airspace.

Explosions were reported in Tehran at dawn on Wednesday as the fighting entered its fifth day. Israeli forces said they were targeting elements of Iran’s leadership and security apparatus, while Iran responded with missile and drone attacks against Israel and other locations in the region.
