RIYADH, 18 March 2005 — Saudi Arabia will have about 20 million mobile phone users and its penetration rate of mobile phones will grow from the current 32 percent to more than 60 percent by 2014, according to a recent study.

The study, conducted by the Riyadh-based Economic Studies House, said this growth will generate substantial business opportunities for the cellular phone operators in the Kingdom.

“Such a growth would not only require a rapid rollout of capacity to service almost 13 million new lines over the coming nine years, but would also require dramatic increases in network coverage and service availability to meet demand in the Kingdom,” it added.
