RIYADH: Saudi Defense Minister Prince Khalid bin Salman conveyed the condolences of King Salman and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman to the family of former Yemeni President Abd Rabbuh Mansur Hadi during a meeting in Riyadh on Saturday.
Prince Khalid expressed his sympathies to Hadi’s family as well as to the government and people of Yemen following the former president’s death at the age of 80 on Thursday.
During the meeting, the defense minister praised Hadi’s leadership and his efforts to support Yemen’s security, stability and development throughout his political career, the Saudi Press Agency reported.
Prince Khalid also prayed for mercy and forgiveness for the late president and for patience and comfort for his family and the Yemeni people, SPA added.
Hadi served as Yemen’s president from 2012 until 2022, when he transferred his powers to the Presidential Leadership Council as part of efforts to advance a political process to end the country’s conflict.
The meeting was also attended by Saudi Foreign Minister Faisal bin Farhan and other senior Saudi officials.
