RIYADH: The National Center for Wildlife extended the third phase of its initiative to regularize unlicensed wildlife possessions until June 30, instead of the end of May.

The center said the extension comes in response to requests for additional time to document ownership.

The initiative is part of national efforts to regulate wildlife possession and ensure compliance with the Environmental Law and its executive regulations governing the housing, breeding, and trade of wildlife.

The third phase complements the first two, which focused on regularizing falcons, private wildlife collections, breeding and housing centers, and businesses engaged in the sale of wildlife products and derivatives.

The current phase targets individuals who possess or handle wildlife on a large scale.

The initiative aims to regulate wildlife ownership, document legal possession, preserve owners’ rights, and enhance housing and care standards in line with environmental and health requirements.

It also seeks to reduce unauthorized practices that may affect natural habitats or threaten wildlife sustainability.
