JEDDAH: Saudi Arabia’s Autism Virtual Clinic has received international recognition at the World Summit on the Information Society 2026 in Geneva, less than a year after its launch.
The clinic, an initiative of the Autism Families Association, was honored after being selected among the finalists in the summit’s e-health category, which recognizes digital health projects that demonstrate social impact through technology.
Launched in October 2025, the Autism Virtual Clinic provides remote healthcare and consultation services for individuals with autism spectrum disorder and their families through a digital platform designed to improve access to specialized care.
Since its launch, the clinic has served more than 200 families and delivered more than 1,000 therapy and consultation sessions. Its services have reached beneficiaries across Saudi Arabia as well as several Gulf countries, enabling families to access specialized support without the need to travel.
The clinic is licensed by the Saudi Ministry of Health, accredited by the Council of Health Insurance, integrated with the Nafis platform and registered with SEHA Virtual Hospital, supporting the delivery of specialized healthcare services remotely.
Prince Saud bin Abdulaziz bin Farhan Al Saud, chairman of the Autism Families Association, and Secretary-General Areej Al-Muallem said in a press release that the recognition reflected the project’s rapid development and the growing role of Saudi initiatives in the digital health sector.
They added that the association plans to continue expanding its digital health services to improve access to specialized care and support the goals of Saudi Vision 2030, particularly the Health Sector Transformation Program.
The World Summit on the Information Society is a UN-sponsored initiative promoting global digital cooperation.
The WSIS Prizes are among the world’s leading awards for digital innovation. Organized annually by the International Telecommunication Union in collaboration with several UN agencies, the awards recognize initiatives that contribute to achieving the UN Sustainable Development Goals through information and communication technologies.
The awards honor projects that have demonstrated measurable impact in areas including e-health, digital inclusion, education, e-government and environmental sustainability. Winners are selected through an international evaluation process that combines public voting with assessments by a panel of expert judges.
