Hadji Omar Is New UBC Chief

JEDDAH, 6 September 2005 — The United Bangsaranao Council, an umbrella group of Maranao cultural organizations in the Western Region, announced the election of Datu Mesug (Mitchell) Hadji Omar as the new UBC chief following an election last Thursday at the Nayong Filipino Restaurant in Jeddah.

Hadji Omar got 27 votes from the Council of Maranao Leaders with Datu Salih Abbas garnering 9 votes to automatically get the post of treasurer.

The election was held under the supervision of the UBC elders, headed by Arch. Idris Tamano, Datu Albani Maungco, Engr. Saibatul Dalos, Engr. Usman Islao and outgoing UBC Chief Engr. Ali Ditucalan.

The New UBC Officers for year 2005-2006 are Datu Mesug (Mitchell) Hadji Omar, Secretary General Datu Alinasser Radiamoda, Treasurer Datu Salih Abbas, Deputy Treasurer Datu Yousop Metmug, PRO Engr. Nasrun Depatuan, and Auditor Datu Khalid Minodar.

The Council of Maranao Leaders represented the Maranao cultural organizations Abna Manrantao, Amboloto, Angoyao, Lanao Del Norte Expatriates Organization, Malabang Islamic Foundation, Binidayan Islamic Association, Buadiposo Buntong Islamic Organization, Ganassi Guide, Greenland-Unayan, Madalum, Malumbay, Moriatao Diwan, Pantao-a-Ragat Organization, Salsila, Shakba, Tamparanian and Tarakanian.
