ISLAMABAD, 9 November 2005 — Saudi Deputy Interior Minister Prince Ahmad and his high-powered delegation yesterday met with Interior Minister Aftab Ahmad Khan Sherpao and his team to discuss the global scourge of terrorism.
Saudi Arabia and Pakistan agreed to combat terrorism besides evolving coordinated efforts to counter terrorism. Both the delegations met at the Interior Ministry for more than one hour.
Minister of State for Interior Wasim Shehzad and ranking officials of the Interior Ministry and related departments were present.
Prince Ahmad is visiting Pakistan as the personal representative of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah.
Prince Ahmed, and the delegation, had arrived here to assess the damage caused by the Oct. 8 earthquake and also the extent of aid needed to help in relief and rehabilitation. Prince Ahmed expressed grief and sorrow to the leadership and people of Pakistan over the loss of life and property.
Sherpao gave a comprehensive briefing to the Saudi delegation on the measures taken to combat terrorism. The two sides expressed satisfaction over the excellent level of cooperation between the two countries and also discussed the current coordination in relief and rehabilitation effort.
At the meeting, Prince Ahmad and Sherpao reaffirmed their resolve to promote mutual cooperation in their bid to root out the menace of terrorism.
