CHICAGO, Il, 23 November 2005 — Dr. Amir Ali, founder and president of the Chicago-based Institute of Islamic Information and Education, died on Saturday after undergoing heart surgery. His dawa activities, spanning over two decades, led to the reversion of hundreds of people.
Pamphlets on major themes of Islam penned by him have been distributed in millions around the world.
He was a biochemist by training having obtained a Ph.D from the University of Illinois in 1972. He briefly worked in Saudi Arabia in the 1970s.
He is survived by his wife, two sons and two daughters.
