RIYADH, 28 December 2005 — Riyadh Governor Prince Salman inaugurated yesterday the 29,000 square-meter Al-Watan Public Park located in the southeastern part of King Abdul Aziz Historical Center.
Prince Salman was taken on a tour of the park by embarking on a boat flowing through a park canal.
Abdullatif Al-Asheikh, head of the Center for Projects and Planning at the Higher Commission for the Development of Riyadh, said that the park occupies a strategic area for tourism development due to its proximity to cultural landmarks, such as the Water Tower and the National Museum.
“Through private-sector investment, this project is instrumental in giving a boost to the tourism sector in the region,” said Prince Salman.
“Al-Watan Public Park offers the visitors breathtaking views through green areas with lakes and waterfalls. Visitors are allowed to use the Water Tower amenities that offer an aerial view of the adjacent parks, historical centers and downtown Riyadh,” the prince said.
He also said the park provides visitors with the most modern and complete facilities meant to make it a pleasant place to spend the day.
