MAKKAH: Police in Makkah recently arrested a man and his son who stabbed another man and his son in Al-Nakkasa district of the holy city.

Musa, 9, stabbed Mahmoud, 15, in his thigh last week at his father’s store. After this, Musa’s father claims he went to see Mahmoud’s father to explain to him what had happened, and was attacked by him and his four other sons. He claims that in the struggle, he stabbed the man in the head with a knife in self-defense.

Following the first stabbing, Mahmoud was brought to Al-Ajyad Police Station where officers took him to Al-Nur Hospital. Eyewitnesses reported that Musa had stabbed Mahmoud in the thigh using a knife following an argument.

Police arrested Musa and his father for questioning. The father told police that his son had not stabbed Mahmoud and that he stabbed himself with a knife he was carrying while playing with Musa.

He added that when he went to see Mahmoud’s father, he was attacked and he stabbed Mahmoud’s father in self-defense.

The father took responsibility for the crime but refused to acknowledge that his son had injured Mahmoud. Police transferred the father to the General Investigation and Prosecution Board and Musa was taken to a juvenile detention center in Jeddah.

Maj. Abdul Muhsin Al-Mayman, official spokesman for Makkah Police, said the police have launched an organized campaign to arrest overstayers in the city’s random neighborhoods.

Al-Mayman complimented the police for quickly arresting the father and son, adding that it was difficult to arrest criminals in the city’s random neighborhoods. He added that the police have informants working inside such districts who help them track down criminals.
