RIYADH: Six students from schools in the Kingdom have been ranked Top in the World for their exceptional performance at the University of Cambridge International Examinations (CIE) held in June 2008.
Announcing the top performers at an award ceremony held in Riyadh on Thursday, William Bickerdike, CIE regional manager for Middle East and North Africa, said the results showed the quality of teaching and the commitment of students in the Kingdom.
“These outstanding results prove that the Kingdom’s schools provide superior quality education, and that the Cambridge method supports this teaching.
“Both CIE and myself would like to congratulate all the winners for their hard work and achievements, and wish them well for their future studies,” he said.
Two students from schools in Dammam — Georges Obied and Saman Ishtiaq Malik — achieved outstanding results. Georges Obied was ranked Top in the World for outstanding result in Cambridge IGCSE Physics, and Saman Ishtiaq Malik ranked Top in the World in Cambridge International AS Level Applied ICT. Both students attend Jubail International School in Dammam.
In Jeddah, Peter Hany Hishmat Kelada (private candidate at British Council Center, Jeddah) was ranked Top in the World for Cambridge IGCSE Accounting, Saad Viqar Anwar (Jeddah Prep and Grammar School) won the rank for Cambridge International AS Level Mathematics and Madiha Abdul Karim (Hala International School) won for Cambridge International A Level in Business Studies.
Aya Mazen Majzoub from King Saud International School in Riyadh topped the list of students from among international schools in the world in English and Information. Saptarshi Chowdhury, a student at Riyadh’s Bangladesh International School, English Section, was awarded the “Top in Saudi Arabia” award in mathematics, while he acquired fifth position in Mathematics worldwide.
In Riyadh, 18 talented students won the awards for their excellent performance at the examination.
