JEDDAH: Ansar retained the cup this week in the Prince Faisal bin Fahd Basketball Club Championship, beating Al-Ahli 86- 76 at the Madinah Sports Complex court in Madinah.

The final match culminated the 11-day tournament.

The clubs playing without import players enjoyed the Madinah venue for the competition. In second round play the top six teams namely Ansar, Ohud, Ahli, Al-Ittihad, Al-Hilal, and Fath broke down into two groups to determine the final four.

Ittihad and Ansar emerged at the top of their groups with Hilal and Ahli rounding out the top four. Ansar held off Hilal 72-66 to reach the final, and Ahli edged out Ittihad in overtime 65-62.

In the final an Ansar team hungry for the repeat took Ahli apart leading by 34 points in the third quarter, never letting them get close to score the victory.

The Al Jawal League continues tomorrow across the Kingdom.
