JEDDAH: A Saudi woman who shaved off the hair of her step-daughter was sentenced to a jail term of three months, 70 lashes and a fine of SR3,000 to be paid to her ex-husband.
The Saudi father complained to the court that he drove her 12-year-old daughter along with his children from his ex-wife to the woman’s house. When the girl returned, she was bald and carried her hair in a plastic bag.
The representative of the Prosecution and Investigation Commission told the court that the defendant claimed that she shaved off the girl’s hair because it was full of lice. She said she divorced the girl’s father more than 10 years ago and had never done any harm to any of his children since then.
The attorney said the girl told the investigators that her stepmother pulled her to an empty room, shaved off her hair completely and asked her to take it back to her father.
He presented to the court a medical report stating that the girl had no lice in her hair thus refuting the claims of the defendant.
